So you’ve just had your powder brows, lip blush, or lash line enhancement done—yay! Now what?
The healing process is a major part of your permanent makeup journey. Knowing what to expect (and what’s totally normal) can make all the difference in feeling confident and calm while you heal. As a PMU artist in Oakville, Ontario, I walk every client through this—but this guide will help you refer back day-by-day.
📅 General Healing Timeline Overview
Each person’s skin is different, but here’s a common pattern most clients experience:
| Day | What You’ll Likely Notice |
|---|---|
| 1 | Fresh, bold colour, mild swelling or tightness |
| 2–4 | Colour may look darker or “crusty” as it settles |
| 5–7 | Peeling begins — flaking skin and patchiness |
| 8–14 | Colour looks light, faded, or uneven |
| 15–30 | Pigment settles in and evens out |
| 4–8 weeks | Touch-up time to perfect shape and colour |
Let’s break it down for brows, lips, and lash line enhancement.
✨ Powder Brows Healing
Days 1–2: Bold and defined
Your brows will look darker and more filled in than expected—this is normal! Mild redness or swelling may be present.
Days 3–5: Flaking begins
The skin will start peeling in small flakes. Do not pick or scratch—this can pull pigment out and affect results.
Days 6–10: Patchy and light
Your brows may look faded, patchy, or uneven. Trust the process—this is just your skin regenerating.
Weeks 2–4: Soft colour returns
Pigment will gradually resurface and the tone will even out.
Week 6–8: Touch-up time
You’ll come back for your perfecting session to adjust shape, fill in gaps, or tweak colour. Note: Can be up to 12 weeks healing for Lip Blush neutralizing.
💋 Lip Blush Healing
Day 1: Bold colour, slight swelling
Lips may feel tight, tender, and appear very vibrant. Swelling typically resolves within a few hours.
Days 2–4: Dryness + flaking
Your lips will begin peeling in thin flakes. Keep them hydrated with the balm I provide.
Days 5–7: Faded or “disappeared” colour
This is totally normal! It may feel like your lips lost all the pigment, but it’s just part of the healing process.
Weeks 2–4: Natural tint returns
The final healed colour will begin to show—a soft, natural tone customized to you.
Week 4–8: Touch-up
We’ll reinforce the shape and adjust the pigment to ensure it lasts.
👁 Lash Line Enhancement Healing
Day 1: Slight swelling or tightness
Eyes may feel sensitive, like seasonal allergies or light irritation. No makeup for 7 days.
Day 2–3: Pigment may darken
The liner can look a little more dramatic before it begins to settle.
Day 4–6: Peeling or dryness
Some minor flaking is normal. Don’t rub your eyes or apply mascara yet.
Days 7–10: Colour softens
Your lash line enhancement will settle into a soft, natural definition.
Week 4–8: Optional touch-up
If needed, we’ll add more depth or shape at your follow-up.
